The deadline for submitting papers to the 5th Brazilian Symposium is on August

The deadline for submitting paper and abstract to the 5th Brazilian Symposium for Sickle Cell Disease and other Hemoglobinopathies is on August 14th. This event, promoted by Educational and Supportive Center for Hemoglobinopathies (CEHMOB-MG) and supported by the Ministry of Health and Pan-American Health Organization, will be held in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil on October 3-7, 2009

Paper submission process comprises the main research areas in the current phase of the disease, and people who are interested in it can submit abstracts or full papers. However, only the participants who choose submit full papers will concur Jessé Accioly Award, which is a tribute to the first researcher in the world to propose the hypothesis of an autosomal recessive inheritance for sickle cell disease on a paper.

There are six thematic áreas for paper submission to the Brazilian Symposium for Sickle Cell Disease and other Hemoglobinopathies:

a) Hemoglobinopathies: basic science;
b) Sickle cell disease: clinical research;
c) Sickle cell disease: psychosocial research, educational research, or community research;
d) Sickle cell disease: epidemiological research, public health research or health service research;
e) Hemoglobinopathies: hemocomponents transfusion;
f) Thalassemia and other hemoglobinopathies: all researches, except basic science.
